Warning: spoilers ahead - This article reveals key moments from The Celebrity Traitors conclusion

Over the course of the show, viewers witnessed eliminations, betrayals, intense glares, and an unforgettable incident that cut through the overwhelming suspense.

Yet on the final evening, the ultimate victor of the inaugural celebrity edition was revealed.

From nineteen participants, just a handful were left standing: Traitors and loyal players competing for the prize.

Before long, the field narrowed to just three: the remaining contestants.

Ultimately, funny man Alan Carr emerged as the champion, in a shocking outcome that broke the internet and left him emotional.

"This has been destroying me, I'm so sorry," he exclaimed, admitting to the other players that he'd always been one of the deceivers. "I feel terrible about this."

"You did brilliantly," they consoled him. "Everything's fine."

Online platforms quickly erupted with this development. "Most awful traitor ever being the most effective player," wrote one user.

"There could not have been a more iconic ending," stated a different person, while someone else described it as "the TV moment of the year."

The organization he selected, a cancer charity, will receive all the prize money, with the final pot reaching eighty-seven thousand five hundred pounds.

The comedian's evolution from comic relief to cold-hearted killer was one of the standout highlights of the series.

However, his victory still shocked viewers surprised, as noted by entertainment reporters.

"The idea of Alan, among everyone, executing an expert performance in deception felt about as likely as him keeping composure through his comedy routines."

On subsequent discussions, fellow players explained the reasons nobody had ever really suspected him.

"He might have come down to breakfast in a green cloak and I still wouldn't have thought he was deceiving us. I was too busy laughing," one participant said.

"The majority didn't vote for him because how can you eliminate a person so charming?" asked another celebrity.

The winner stated he had "thoroughly enjoyed" his time on the show.

"I'd like to do it again... I doubt it would be successful a second time!"

The final episode was lengthened to over an hour on television. There was an unusual opening than usual, as all the celebs were aware who'd make it at the breakfast table.

Viewers heard particularly inspiring, and very un-Traitors-esque soundtrack, as we recapped key scenes from every remaining player's time in the castle.

As ever, the comedian gave us some of the most memorable lines.

"Let's face it, I began the competition a bit of a nervous wreck. I've betrayed close allies under the bus, I've eliminated beloved figures openly. I'm clearly more deceptive and player than I thought."

Meanwhile, a different player commented that reaching the conclusion was "way more stressful than playing for England", while someone else said he was "totally surprised" to have made it so far.

In the beginning of the finale, various contestants seemed to be making a bid to become the fashion standout of the competition, replacing the previously eliminated style leader.

The winner appeared at breakfast resembling a 1950s US chat show host in patterned burgundy attire, later switching into an embellished light-colored outfit.

However, he got out-jacketted by a fellow player's maroon velvet tuxedo. What a look.

Following this was the competition, with the final players getting on board a train named - of course - The Deceivers' Railway.

The challenge involved ripping up portraits of former contestants. Spare a thought for one participant who managed to get hit in the head multiple times by the cover of a heavy wooden box.

Soon after, it was time for the elimination discussion.

Two traitors did a pinky promise in advance, pledging to support each other. "We've progressed significantly, I'm not going to throw him under a bus," said one, while their partner simply laughed.

However, one did stick to their agreement. But, managing to stay unnoticed for the majority of the competition, their partner still got the most votes.

The remaining traitor looked like he was in significant distress to be the final deceiver remaining. "Being alone, I'm frightened," he said. "I'm unpredictable, without direction."

Social media and viewers were similarly upset.

"I did NOT want that player to be banished. An endearing deceiver," commented a commentator.

"Your legacy will remain in Traitors history," posted another user.

But there was no time to dwell on their elimination. Before long, the game reached the final stage - which was the moment everyone anticipated.

The final four gathered around the ceremonial fire. Meanwhile, the partnership collapsed, precisely when it was most crucial, in an absolutely shocking development.

One contestant was painfully banished - after a shock vote from their ally, who turned against them.

"It hurts to be stabbed in the back at the final moment like that," said the eliminated player. Later, it was revealed that when they message, the betrayed player refers to their former ally by a betrayer's name.

Ultimately, only three contestants remained in the game: the last participants.

A contestant, looking incredibly smug, voted to end the competition. The same decision was made by another, and it all came down to the third, who made the identical choice - resulting in the deceiver emerged victorious.

For observers, the scene where the other players comforted the champion was "beautiful TV". "I anticipate it could be in the running for memorable moment at television honors," they said.

Fortunately, the winner quickly regained composure from his bout of tears, and could finally appreciate the moment.

"Such an emotional journey. I was awful at lying, I had no poker face and here I am the champion," the winner said.

And he even joked about the memorable elimination - his best friend during the initial stages - by leaning toward the presenter in the concluding moments and making contact.

"There's something on your face," he said, with his trademark giggle.

The recent episodes of famous people scheming, scheming and sometimes unexpected moments may seem like one big crazy jumbled dream. Yet it actually all happen. It will be remembered fondly.
