President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support public safety in DC.

“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy caused the government to halt asylum processing and cease granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor the governor stated on a news program.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
